The Commonage - Warwick

Warwick is only a 2 hour drive from Brisbane, a town with a lot of history and home to various popular motor sport events at the Morgan Park Race circuit. If being close to the race track is not enough, Warwick is also central to many wineries and has many historic runs that you can tackle as an individual or car club group. So if you are planning to spend some time in Warwick take a look at “The Commonage”.

The Commonage
Evidence indicates that this cottage, known as The Commonage, was erected during the late 1860’s or early 1870’s for John Leonard of Warwick. It appears to have been built as a residence and shop for Leonard, who was subsequently listed as a shopkeeper. It is a one-storeyed building with attic space beneath its steeply pitched roof and was constructed using local hand made bricks. In 1949 a skillion-roofed weatherboard lean-to was added at the rear. The front awning was reconstructed, along with extensive internal and external restoration work. The Commonage is a self contained cottage, within walking distance of the CBD and is available for tourist accommodation.

Address: 69A Dragon Street, Warwick.
